Yes, fireproof cabinets are generally waterproof, but it’s important to distinguish between “fireproof” and “waterproof” performance.
Waterproof Performance
Most fireproof cabinets utilize silicone seals and other features to remain watertight at 30cm underwater for eight hours, effectively protecting against emergencies such as rainy season humidity, burst pipes, or flooding. Some high-end products, such as those made with Shield’s patented composite insulation and fireproof materials, can withstand temperatures of 1010°C for two hours and achieve IPX8 waterproof rating (can withstand continuous immersion).
The Difference Between Fireproof and Waterproof
Fireproof: Fireproofing is achieved through high-temperature-resistant materials and insulation, capable of withstanding temperatures of 927°C for one hour while maintaining an internal temperature below 177°C.
Waterproofing: Waterproofing relies on a sealed structure to prevent water penetration and is not directly related to fireproofing.
When purchasing, it is recommended to pay attention to product certifications (such as UL certification) and testing standards, and prioritize models with both certifications.
