The electrical enclosure manufacturing process includes material selection and pretreatment, precision machining and forming, welding and assembly, surface treatment and inspection
Of course, electrical enclosures are also mainstream products in the sheet metal industry, so the technology is very mature and you don’t have to worry about it.
In modern industrial and automated control systems, electrical control cabinets, as the core component of the power system, play a vital role. It is not only a carrier of various electrical components, but also a key facility to ensure power distribution, conversion, protection and control. The electrical enclosure, as the first line of defense to protect these precision components from external environmental interference, has a production process that is directly related to the stability, safety and service life of the entire electrical control system. Now, Mulan Group shares its past experience in manufacturing electrical housings as follows:
Material selection and pretreatment
The production of electrical enclosures begins with the selection of materials. High-quality cold-rolled steel plates, stainless steel or aluminum alloys have become the materials of choice for manufacturing housings due to their good mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and easy processing. After selecting the material, pretreatment is required, including degreasing, rust removal, phosphating and other steps to improve the adhesion and rust resistance of the material. In particular, phosphating can form a dense phosphate film on the metal surface, effectively isolating moisture and oxygen, and laying a solid foundation for subsequent painting.Of course, different countries have different requirements for equipment standards, which may differ in metal materials.
Precision machining and forming
Electrical enclosures come in various shapes, from simple rectangles to complex special-shaped structures, all of which require high-precision processing equipment. The laser cutting machine, with its high precision and high efficiency, can accurately cut the outline of the shell; the CNC bending machine accurately bends the cut sheet according to the preset program to form the basic frame of the shell. For shells with special requirements, such as the need to add heat dissipation holes or install accessories, punching, drilling and other processes are also required.

Welding and assembly
After completing the basic forming, the various parts of the shell need to be connected together by welding technology. For stainless steel or aluminum alloy shells, TIG (tungsten inert gas welding) or MIG/MAG (metallurgical gas welding) and other welding methods are often used to ensure the beauty and strength of the weld. Cold-rolled steel plate shells may use resistance welding or arc welding, depending on specific needs. After welding, weld grinding and stress relief treatment are required to ensure that the weld is flat and crack-free, while reducing welding deformation.
Assembly is the last step in shell production, involving the precise installation of components such as door panels, side panels, and top panels, as well as the fixing of accessories such as internal brackets and guide rails. In this process, the selection and installation of fasteners are crucial, both to ensure sufficient fastening force and to avoid shell deformation or component damage caused by over-tightening.

Surface treatment and inspection
In order to improve the corrosion resistance and beauty of the shell, surface treatment such as electrostatic spraying, powder coating or anodizing is usually required. These processes can form a uniform and dense coating on the surface of the shell, effectively isolating it from the external environment. After the surface treatment is completed, all shells must undergo strict quality inspection, including but not limited to size inspection, appearance inspection, sealing test and electrical safety test, to ensure that each electrical enclosure can meet the design requirements and industry standards.

Of course, the production process of electrical enclosure is a complex process that integrates multiple fields such as material science, precision machining, welding technology, and surface treatment. At present, it is also a relatively large proportion of sheet metal products in the sheet metal industry, so the production process is very mature. For example, the electrical enclosures produced by Shanghai Mulan Group have been exported to many other countries, and have a 12-year history of trade OEM sheet metal development. By continuously optimizing the production process and improving the technical level, the electrical enclosures produced by Mulan Group can not only better protect the internal electrical components, but also operate stably for a long time in harsh industrial environments, providing solid protection for industrial automation control. If you have the need for large-scale customized electrical enclosures and trade procurement needs, you can choose Mulan Group to cooperate, and we will give you a perfect product promise.
