In industrial applications, common metal enclosures such as power enclosures, network enclosures, server enclosures, and outdoor enclosures are often manufactured using sheet metal processing.Due to the increasing demand for precise shapes, these finished sheet metal enclosures must undergo dimensional inspections before leaving the factory.
Here are the methods for inspecting the dimensions of sheet metal enclosures, which can serve as a reference for industry professionals:

Diagonal Difference of Upper and Lower Frame
The absolute value of the diagonal difference of the upper and lower frame should be less than 1.5mm.
1、Parallelism with Base
The parallelism with the base should be less than 1mm. The measurement points are the upper surface of the base and the lower surface of the top frame. These two surfaces are reference points. This can also be checked by measuring the diagonal length of the six faces, with the difference not exceeding 2.5mm. If the sheet metal enclosure has an intermediate partition, the parallelism between the upper frame and the base will be relaxed to 1.5mm. The parallelism between the intermediate partition and the upper frame or base should be less than 1mm.
2、No Deformation of Columns
The columns should not be deformed, and the parallelism between each column and the upper and lower frames at both ends, as well as with the adjacent plane of the frame, should be less than 0.5mm.
3、No Visible Tilt or Local Distortion
The sheet metal enclosure should not show any visible tilt, distortion, or warping. The verticality between the frame columns and the base should be less than 1.5mm. During testing, the upper surface of the base should be taken as the reference point, and the measurement should be made at the top of the column.
4、Parallelism of Supporting Sliders
For the supporting sliders of the enclosure, the parallelism between the work surface, mainly formed by the left and right sliders of the same layer, and the bottom surface should be within 1mm. After applying load, the absolute value of the gap difference between two adjacent panels should not exceed 0.6mm.
These methods are currently the main techniques used by sheet metal manufacturers to inspect the dimensional accuracy of enclosures. They meet the inspection requirements of 99% of sheet metal enclosure products. By inspecting the external dimensions of the sheet metal enclosures in these ways, we can effectively ensure the processing quality of sheet metal enclosures, thus producing high-quality, well-formed sheet metal enclosure products.
