What are the requirements for explosion-proof enclosures

The design of explosion-proof enclosures must meet the following core requirements:

Material and Structure

Material Selection: Mainstream materials include aluminum alloy, stainless steel, engineering plastics, and welded steel plates. They must meet strength and heat resistance requirements. For example, the minimum wall thickness of metal materials must be ≥3mm, and non-metallic materials must possess sufficient tensile strength.
Joint Surface Design: The gap between joint surfaces must be ≤0.15mm to ensure that flames cannot propagate externally in the event of an explosion.
Hole Requirements: The remaining thickness of blind holes must be at least 3mm and no less than 1/3 of the bolt diameter.

Performance

Explosion-proof Level: Specific explosion-proof certification (such as GB/T 3836.2-2021) must be obtained to ensure that the enclosure can withstand internal explosion pressures (up to 1.5MPa) without rupture.
Protection Level: Gas explosion-proof enclosures must meet IP54 or higher, while dust explosion-proof enclosures must be dust-tight or dustproof.

Maintenance and Inspection

Regular Inspection: Annually inspect the joint surface for flatness (tolerance <0.02mm). Exceeding the standard rust area requires mandatory replacement.
Environmental Adaptability: Consider environmental factors such as humidity and temperature to prevent static electricity accumulation and material degradation.

These are the basic requirements for explosion-proof enclosures. If you require large quantities of custom explosion-proof enclosures, you can partner with Mulan Group.
