What is sheet metal assembly

Sheet metal assembly refers to the process of assembling sheet metal parts together through various connection methods.

This is a link in the sheet metal processing plant before delivering the goods, and it is assembled into finished products according to the customer’s requirements. Of course, assembly also includes many methods. Sheet metal parts in different industries have different requirements for assembly methods, as follows:

sheet metal assembly

Snap assembly:

Snap assembly is to fix sheet metal parts together through snaps and slots. Since most sheet metal parts are not elastic, snap assembly is usually used in conjunction with other assembly methods (such as screws) to achieve rapid assembly and reduce assembly costs.

Rivet assembly:

Rivet assembly is to insert the rivet into the corresponding holes of the two parts, and then use the rivet gun to pull the rod until it breaks, so that the outer rivet sleeve is deformed and expanded, thereby fixing the two parts together. Commonly used rivets include flat head rivets and round head rivets.

Riveting assembly:

Riveting is a cold working process that uses mechanical force to connect two workpieces through an intermediate workpiece. The common riveting method is to use rivets to connect between flat plates.

Threading and screw assembly:

Threading is to punch a hole with both a guide and a hole wall on the plate to increase the contact surface and the number of tapping teeth, thereby increasing the strength of the tapping hole. Self-tapping screw assembly fixes two parts together through self-tapping screws.

Nut and screw assembly:

Connecting two parts together through nuts and screws, this method has almost no other disadvantages except high cost.

Spot welding assembly:

Spot welding assembly fixes two parts together through arc welding, which has the advantages of high efficiency, light weight, and low cost, but it cannot be disassembled, and welding errors may cause the entire part to be scrapped.

Of course, sheet metal processing is an important technology in the field of mechanical manufacturing, mainly used to produce various closed boxes, shells, enclosures, shielding covers and other products. In the sheet metal processing process, sheet metal assembly is an essential step. Sheet metal assembly needs to follow the assembly sequence of different processes and different parts to ensure the accuracy and quality of each step and meet the design requirements. If you need large quantities of sheet metal parts, you can choose to cooperate with Mulan Group.
